Little Outdoor Giants’ mission is to create unique, curated, and authentic lifestyle imagery and motion that is hinged on a desire to live an aesthetic life and tell beautifully stylized stories. We would love to help tell the story of East Coast adventures and the amazing experiences off-roaders can have here safely, with Toyo Tires. We have the client experience and the unique creativity to help bring these stories to life, and the vast production experience to make it all happen smoothly, on budget, all while having a blast for everyone involved.

Thank you for considering us for Toyo Tires Brand Enthusiast Shoot. We hope you enjoy this work and look forward to making magic together.

About LOG

How We Do:

Dom & Jarrod both came to LOG as independent shooters. This means we both shoot stills, we both shoot motion, we both direct and on some productions, we do this all at the same time. We pride ourselves on being able to double down on the same skillset, providing more content in less time for our clients than a typical production.

We know what our clients need these days, EVERYTHING. While one of us is directing and shooting a Hero Image that the art director was looking for, the other is off to the side getting a completely candid lifestyle moment of the same scene, or if there’s multiple talent, one of us will breakaway from the main shot and create a simple environmental portrait in stills and in motion of key talent. We’re flexible and fluid on set, capturing tons of content for our clients library needs, all with the eye of a trained and passionate photographer, X’s 2.

Toyo Tires Creative Brief

Little Outdoor Giants plan would be to focus on the lifestyle moments Toyo is looking to capture. Over the course of 3 shooting days taking us all over New England, from the Coast of Maine to the forests, lakes and peaks of Vermont and New Hampshire we would capture real-people talent, with their prized adventure rigs, having adventures off the beaten path in some their favorite secret spots, accessible and known to only a lucky few.

Real People Talent Casting:

Sourcing influencers, real off-roaders and weekend warriors using our vast network of production connections, friends in the off-road community, and social media we’ll be finding talent who already enjoy the activities we’re looking to shoot. By casting experienced local real people talent for each scene, we’ll be able to focus on the moments we create by having the talent enjoy these activities in these beautiful natural landscapes. We keep the energy up on our shoots and our talent will be right there with us, creating those moments that stock footage can never achieve and that looks authentic because the people doing it are just that, authentic.

Light:

For our lifestyle work, we’ll focus on building around natural light. We’ll plan our shooting times, based on our location scout, the angles we intend to shoot for each scene, and working in the most beautiful light, during early morning and late afternoon into sunset. We will supplement the lighting, if necessary, with natural light modifiers such as scrims & bounce-fill as we craft our shots. Working with the available light to highlight our subjects while still feeling completely natural to the viewer.

Crew:

Running as nimbly as possible we’ll be working with a small but dedicated crew. LOG as 2 shooters and directors running the cameras and sound capture, a drone operator capturing from the air, our grip and assistant to manage the mountain of gear keep us charged up, a digital tech to make sure all files are organized and backed up even while out in the remote backcountry, a small production team to manage logistics; locations, meals, and talent needs, a prop master to make sure all wardrobe and props are looking styled but authentic, and a covid-safety officer to keep everyone safe on set and while traveling.

Shooting Scenes:

Given the Brand Enthusiast Creative Deck, we have determined the most feasible approach is to focus on capturing the 9 essential scenes listed below. For each scene we will be creating and capturing authentic moments in tight, medium, wide, and epically wide drone footage. We pride ourselves on being able to capture all assets for our clients in multiple formats to have the option to push in on a scene; getting a tight detail of a tire splashing through a stream, the medium shot of the ear-to-ear grin of the driver looking out his window to see the depth, the wide shot of the whole truck and river crossing and the alternate angle shot straight down from above with a drone. Shooting our scenes with this much variation gives a wide range of possiblity once in the edit booth, quickly being able to swap a tight for a wide shot, or a medium for and ultra-wide shot of the same scene, telling the same story with endless options. We will capture variations on this, tight, medium, wide, ultra-wide for each scene that we create, using all the toys at our disposal, creative angles, waterproof housing, drones, gopros, and our great talent and beautiful off-road trucks.

Creating Authentic Scenes:

Once the cast & locations are set, our lighting is enhanced, and the scene is ready for us to make magic, it’s all about creating moments, not just capturing what happens. We work ahead of time to plan stories, build relationships and create a narrative to have a structure to work from. This will allow us to create unique, relatable and authentic lifestyle moments: Friends taking an excited selfie of the epic East Coast landscape they discovered on their off-road adventure, the competitive grin of friends following each others lines through a boulder field for bragging rights, the awe of a family driving their new Toyota pickup, small in the frame, as they round a corner on a hidden dirt road and Mt. Katahdin looms in the distance, and a close-up portrait of an ear-to-ear smile as someone experiences that first thrill of splashing through a deep water fording across a forested river.

We take the time to build out narratives, craft our lifestyle moments, and then allow the magic of the location, the scene and the thrill of the activity to interact with our talent, delivering truly authentic and real aspirational lifestyle stills and motion footage.

Post Work and Supervised Edit:

Working with our productions partners we’ve found an edit house excited to work with us on this project and proposed timeline. After we hand-off footage immediately following the shoot, they will takeover and cover everything from the supervised remote edit sessions, through the Project Management, Editorial, Typography, Utility Work, Color Grading, Audio Mix, Sound Design, Asset Management, and final delivery of 1x :60s and 1x :30s Toyo “Belong” spots.

Essential Scenes:

Family Off-Grid Camping

A Family Camping Scene, at the edge of a lake or an open field and forest. We find a real-family, with an adventure rig, a rooftop tent, and a penchant for gourmet outdoor cooking. We would accomplish multiple scenes here with this one location “Family setting up camp” + “Celebrating around a campfire” + “Father & Son Fishing” + “Cozy Woman in Tent w/Blanket”. We know these scenes could be accomplished in Maine or Vermont at an off-road accessible camping spot, ideally one at the edge of a lake or river to have the beauty and easy access to our fishing compliment this scene.

Single Truck Driving a trail

All over Maine New Hampshire, and Vermont we have class 4 roads, up mountains, across streams, through fields and forests. We will plan to find a Hero truck that represents Toyo and the story of a brand enthusiast to capture this journey in detail, from the tight tire shots, to the smiling driver, to the epic drone footage.

Rock Climbing / Trail Running

With countless epic peaks above treeline and granite walls for multi-pitch climbing, and a few hovering just above water for a combined climb and cliff jump, New England has what you’re looking for to get an option for those thrill seeking adventurers. Made all the more accessible with an off-road adventure rig to showoff when our talent finishes their adventurous activity.

Muddy Rigs in Front of a Diner at twilight

This scene we know all too well. It happens. Life imitating art. Every Winter we have a helluva weekend with the folks at the Land Rover Winter Romp in Maine. And every morning before we hit the trails, everybody meets up at Big G’s Deli for a pre-game tailgating and breakfast sandwiches, with the full assortment of new to old, clean to beat-up off-road trucks. It’s a scene to behold and one to retell with Toyo Tires

Cliff Diving

From the seacoast cliffs, to the granite quarries, to epic waterfalls all over New England, we’ve been cliff diving and swimming in all sorts of hidden, secret, and epic swimholes over the years, for both our clients, and for fun! We’re excited to share some of these spots ranging from the kid-friendly, to the downright scary, with Toyo Tires and finding the perfect balance to help tell this story.

Tires & Off-Road Details

For each one of the scenes listed above, we’ll incorporate an off-road truck with Toyo tires, from gassing up and hitting the diner, to tackling forested dirt roads, boulder crawling, water crossings, lonely mountain trail driving, we’ll be showcasing each of our real-peoples rigs and how Toyo tires helps them get to their dream destinations, all in epic AND granular, textural detail. Think sandflying, mud-spitting, rock-crawling, water splashing, all you can handle off-road goodness.

Right from the initial call, it was clear that Dom and Jarrod had invested themselves in our project—digging into the details and potential. Their enthusiastic energy never let up. Navigating the specifics and twists-and-turns of our shoot was always positive, constructive, a great buzz.

In the ad biz, it’s an honor to collaborate with truly talented people—that’s when the magic happens. That collaborative spirit is inherent in Dom and Jarrod as a team. These days, as we tend to work through all sorts of technology, a terrific personal collaboration means more than ever. LOG on.
